Weeknight Picnic + Giveaway with Belly Moms

Earlier this week my little family and I decided to go to a local park to have a picnic for dinner. It actually wasn't as warm out as we anticipated and it was really windy, but we wound up having a great time. It was nice to do something different and get out of the house for dinnertime to break up the week. When venturing out with the baby, I always have to make sure my clothing is nursing friendly. I am super proud to say that I have been nursing Harper for a year now, and this girl does not seem to be stopping at any point in the near future, which I am totally ok with. It can sometimes be a struggle to find nursing friendly clothing that is both functional and cute. I was recently introduced to Belly Moms and love their selection of pieces for pregnancy and beyond. To all my fellow nursing (and expecting) mamas out there, you have to check out Belly Moms. They have a huge selection of maternity and nursing friendly clothes, as well as cloth diapers! Today I am excited to be giving away an organic belly band to one lucky expecting mama. Be sure to check out the Rafflecopter at the end of the post to get your entries in.

The Best Hair Products For Straight & Fine Hair That I Can't Live Without

I hope you are all enjoying your week so far! Last week was so crazy for me, as I tried to prepare for Harper's birthday, so I am hoping that things slow down a bit now that it has passed. Today I am breaking out of my usual style related posts to share some of the hair products that I can't live without at the moment. I'll be honest... I have never been a fan of my hair. The texture is less than desirable, it is completely stick straight, and I have struggled trying to find products that don't weigh down my already fine/thin hair for years. I have also highlighted my hair since I was in college to brighten up my naturally dirty blonde hair.  I was recently introduced to BLNDN and was excited to try out their products, as they are specifically made for chemically lightened hair, like mine. I struggle at times with my hair looking brassy, especially as it gets closer to the time that I need to get my highlights re-done, so I decided to try out the Tone You Toning Rinse. I only use it 1-2 times per week, and will put it on and let it sit in my hair for about 5 minutes in between shampoo and conditioning

I am also dealing with the ever so lovely postpartum regrowth, so I can use all the help I can get taming flyaways and random baby hairs that are popping up.  The Save You Balancing Cream has been helpful in creating a smoother look, and I generally just use one pump of it on my damp hair before I blow dry it. I initially tried to use 2 pumps and found it to be way too heavy for my fine hair.  I also add about 3 pumps of this Shea Moisture mousse before blow drying my hair. Unfortunately due to how flat and fine my hair is, I have to blow dry it every day to give it a little bit of body. My other favorite way to add body is by spraying a bit of Living Proof dry shampoo in, especially on days when I leave my hair straight.

I am always on the lookout for new products to try, so I would love to hear about your favorites in the comments below!

Harper's Birth Story

Today marks the most important day yet in my short 32 years of life - my daughter, Harper's, first birthday. Before you become a parent, you will have so many people tell you how fast time will pass you by. They will tell you to enjoy every moment of it, and this piece of advice could not be any more accurate. I honestly feel like there is a lot that happened during this past year that I can't even remember, which is most definitely a result of a lack of sleep, but also due to how many little things change on a daily basis when you have a baby. Before having Harper, I shared a lot about my pregnancy, including what I planned to pack for a birth center birth and how I planned to use essential oils during labor and beyond. I have always loved reading other mamas birth stories, and had thoughts of some day sharing my own here on Middle of Somewhere. I figured her first birthday would be the perfect occasion to do so.

Mommy and Me Summer Style

Considering that Harper's first birthday is only a few days away, I am having a major moment! Now that Harper is getting older, there are so many more mommy and me outfit options, and it is so much fun! I have been loving all of the matching clothing options that are available right now. I absolutely adore the idea of twinning with my little, and I was recently able to find so many adorable mom and daughter pieces. These pieces are SO easy to mix and match, and are all great closet staples as the temperatures rise and we all get ready for summer!

Marimekko Women's Tunic - Smith Optics 'Clayton' Sunglasses - Old Navy Ankle Strap Sandals

If you are a Target fanatic like I am, then you may have seen the Marimekko for Target line that recently launched. How darling is this mod print bathing suit for baby and matching cover up for mama? My daughter and I actually own this exact set, and I can't wait to wear them this summer!

Old Navy Boyfriend Shorts - Swing Cami - Double Strap Sandals

Who doesn't love a good pair of boyfriend shorts for summer? I about lost my mind when I went to Old Navy recently and came across these baby boyfriend shorts! I love that Old Navy sells almost the exact same printed tank and shorts in both women's and baby girl sizes. The fact that every piece in this set is under $25 is also a huge plus!

I'd love to know your thoughts: are you into the mini me style?

Where are some of your favorite places to shop for mommy and me coordinating clothing?
